Believe You Can Learn
Creating a productive mindset for studying
Can be helpful for: individuals who are struggling with their confidence or anyone who wants to optimise their ability to learn
How to Develop a Good Mindset for Studying
Try to approach each learning session positively, believing you have the ability to learn. You could do this by using affirmations such as:
- “I am intelligent”
- “I’m capable of learning”
- “I can do this”
What’s the Science Behind Believing You Can Learn?
Learning is less effective when we have less confidence in our capabilities or intelligence. This can create an ‘impostor syndrome’ which leads into a self-fulfilling prophecy of being unable to do the thing that we are afraid we cannot do, because we are afraid of it!
Confidence is important when learning as it means you are more likely to try and not as discouraged when you fail, which is an important part of the learning process. Therefore, believing you can do something improves your ability to learn.
